What is the SHSM Transportation Programme?

This programme provides students with a strong foundation in the service, repair and modification of vehicles and vehicle systems as well as being related to the organization and management of transportation networks and mass transit systems.

What can I do to prepare?

Take as many compulsory courses as possible in grade 11 so that you can leave a semester open for the SHSM- Transportation program in your grade 11 or 12 year.

Visit a transportation service facility.

Visit the regional SHSM-Transportation facility program site and talk to both the students and teacher.

Attend a Parent/Student School to Career Information Evening. See your guidance department for dates.

Download the assignments from the SHSM-Transportation process and hand it to the teacher of the program.

Attend all classes and be on time everyday. Attendance, punctuality, work ethic and the ability to get good references are important criteria for admission to the Transportation Technology Program.

Include all required courses for the SHSM-Transportation program in your Annual Education Plan.

When can I get started?

Apply in either Grade 10 or 11 to begin the program the following year

Plan your courses so that you have room to take the 6 credit program beginning in either Grade 11 or 12 Program Planning

Requires 4 major credits (one Grade 11 and 2 Grade 12) plus an optional 2 credit Coop placement

Enrollment is limited. If you are interested but have not completed a Request for Information Form (RIF) please do so ASAP by contacting your Guidance Counsellor or SHSM liaison.
