Mould and your health

Last month we found a problem with some mould growing inside a wall cavity of the porta-pack. Three classes were temporarily relocated within J.D. Hogarth while the issue was investigated and resolved. We’re pleased to report that repairs to the porta-pack are complete, and classes resumed as usual on January 9. Ball on treeHow fortunate we are to be able to promote a sense of equity and inclusion right here in our own home town. It is becoming more rare for children to have role models in their lives who are leaders and who improve the world. It is important for them to see that people can make life choices that can change the world when they set their mind to it.

I am writing this newsletter introduction while the teachers are preparing the Progress Report Card that will be coming home on November 9th. This is the second year that the Progress Report Card will come home.

Parent/teacher conferences

Parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for Friday, November 18th from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, as well as Tuesday, November 22nd, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. New this year- all interviews will be booked online.  

You will need your child’s OEN number as well as their date of birth to access the system. This will be sent home with your child this week. In order to login, visit the website http://www.ugdsb.on.ca/pti, enter your child’s OEN and date of birth, then click Login. From there you will choose your child’s homeroom teacher and are able to view their availability.

Online bookings will commence November 9th and will close November 17th at 3:00 pm. If your child’s homeroom teacher is unavailable, please contact them directly to make alternate arrangements. All interviews will take place in your child’s homeroom, unless otherwise notified.

pumpkinWe are off to a great start this year! A special welcome to Mrs. Gillian Muir who is our new vice principal. She is enjoying getting to know all the staff and students and she has been given a very warm welcome by many people.
