We ask students to dress appropriately at all times. Common sense is the rule. Crests on clothing that represent alcohol companies, drugs, profanity, or overt sexuality are deemed in poor taste will not be permitted at school. Suitable footwear is to be worn indoors at all times. Hats may be worn outdoors—not in the school. More specific guidelines are outlined in the school’s Code of Conduct.
Bicycles, Rollerblades, Skateboards, Scooterboards and Wheelshoes
If bicycles are brought to school, please lock them as they can be damaged or stolen by others. We remind students that for others’ safety, bicycles should not be ridden on school property during school hours.
Skateboards, rollerblades, scooterboards and wheelshoes have been prohibited from use on school property by the Board due to safety concerns. If using the first three as “transportation” to and from school, please remember they are not to be used once on school property.
Lost and Found
Found items are placed in a bin located in the primary entrance by our day care centre door. You are welcome at any time to look through these items. Jewelry and money should be taken to the office to be claimed. You can assist us by putting name labels on all your child’s belongings, including gym bags, jackets, snow boots, etc. We hope that children take special precaution with their personal belongings while at school. All items from Lost & Found are displayed periodically for parents and students. Items left after reminders in Hawk Talk and during holidays/break (i.e. Christmas, March Break) are taken to the Salvation Army.
"Nutritional Break" Rooms
Eating privileges are regularly extended to students who are bussed, who have extenuating circumstances, and who are participating in school activities that occur during the lunch hour. Supervised facilities are provided for these students. We do encourage as many walkers as possible to go home for the second break whenever possible since it gives them a break from school. Students eat in designated areas. Students who regularly stay must remain on school grounds unless given specific written permission by a parent/guardian to leave the property. If permission is given, students must leave at the second break dismissal (12:50). Lunchroom privileges may be withdrawn when being used inappropriately.
Parents are asked to make sure they have completed the section on the Student Information Sheet that informs the school as to whether or not students have permission to leave the school at nutritional break times. Sending a note on a specific occasion, if your general wishes change is appreciated.
Peanut/Nut Alert
As we have several students with a severe peanut/nut allergy, we ask your support in helping to provide for a safe environment. These students and families are extremely knowledgeable about this issue and fully understand their responsibilities. Assisting them by not sending peanut or nut products will help reduce any potential risk while here at school.
