Please join Mr. Feick, Ms. Huften and Ms. Paterson in the library for a 20 minute presentation that will focus on their roles in the school to support educational success and student wellness. Permanent linkEach year the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) conducts the Ontario Literacy Test (OSSLT). Successful completion of the OSSLT is a graduation requirement. The Upper Grand District School Board is providing an opportunity to prepare for the test, which will be administered on March 29, 2012. The Smart Start Reading and Writing program is offered and provides students a chance to spend 15 hours improving reading and writing skills with the help of a qualified teacher. Amanda Storey will be instructing students in order to prepare effectively for the Literacy Test. The Smart Start program will start Wednesday February 8, 2012. (The start date has been adjusted because of the change in the start date for semester 2.) If you are interested in the program please contact the school.

Due to a storm squall warning in effect for Wellington County, Grade 8 Night has been cancelled for tonight (January 19), and will be rescheduled for January 26.
Permanent linkEach semester, grade 9 mathematics students are expected to write a provincial assessment of mathematics. The individual results from the EQAO mathematics test are then incorporated into the final mark for students. This semester the Grade 9 Mathematics Test for semester 1 students will be written on January 18 and 19.

Permanent linkEDHS has been selected as one of the Upper Grand District School Board's focus schools for Student Success. Our school will be included in a report to the Ministry of Education, utilizing a variety of media. Video, photos, and other forms of media will be used to celebrate the outstanding work done at the school that supports student success. From the "Rights, Responsibility, and Respect" workshops at Grade 9 Camp, to various projects undertaken at the school, EDHS has earned an outstanding reputation for helping students succeed in high school. Well done EDHS!

We talk about our transition program, course information, our Grade 9 camp and our mentoring program with our Link Crew. We hope to provide lots of information so that the move to the high school for grade 8 students is seamless. This year our Grade 8 Parent Information Night is on January 19 from 7-9pm in the theatre. Permanent linkJanuary 9-18 is the first annual Arts Week at EDHS! The week begins with the Tempo Band and friends performing during Block E on January 9 and closes on January 18 with One Act Plays at 7 pm in the Theatre. Between these two events you can enjoy the EDHS Independent Film Festival during lunch hours, the Grade 12 Art Show at Alton Mill (January 10-13), an Improv team performance in the theatre at lunch and "Dancing with the Teachers" on January 17 at 7 pm. in the theatre. Lastly, Artifex will be selling art and feather jewelry from January 9 -13 at lunch.
