For their creation of a war memorial based on a Group of Seven A.J. Casson scroll, four Shelburne students are to receive the Lieutenant Governor's Ontario Heritage award for Youth Achievement. The award, to be presented in February under the Ontario Heritage Trust's Young Heritage Leaders program, “provides communities with the opportunity to celebrate young people who have taken leadership roles in preserving, protecting and promoting the province's rich and diverse heritage (and) recognizes the most exceptional groups of young heritage volunteers,” according to the announcement recently sent to Mayor Ed Crewson, whose council had nominated the students. Course Calendar for 2012-2013 now available. On line course selection starts February 6 with signed option sheet to homeroom teacher by February 17.

The EQAO dates for this semester's Grade 9 Math students have been set for Tuesday & Wednesday January 24 & 25, 2012.

Conestoga College has announced a tuition free pre-apprenticeship programs for general machinist and commercial vehicle and equipment technician. These programs are free to students who are eligible and further information is offered on Conestoga college’s website. With the construction industry facing a shortage in Ontario alone of over 100,000 people in skilled trades, this program could be a great opportunity for youth to enter into a dynamic career that offers great pay and opportunities to further their career.

A new feature for the yearbook this year. Students, staff and parents can now upload photos they take at school events, field trips etc. to a SECURE website called e share, which is affiliated with the yearbook company Herff Jones. It is very easy to use; simply click on the link below, fill out the form and upload photos to the site. Only the yearbook teacher, as administrator of the site, can view uploaded pictures, which can then be used for the yearbook. Download the HJ eShare app for the iPhone or iPod Touch and then pictures can be uploaded directly from an iPhone or iPod. CDDHS school code is 3023562 if asked to enter this from the app.

Pre-paid Lunch Cards are now available - $20 for 5 lunch specials including a drink. Lunch specials are $5 each so that's one free lunch a week with a pre-paid lunch card. On sale NOW in the main office.

The CDDHS 2011-2012 School Year Timetable and Calendar, 2011-12 School Brochure, Staff Phone Extensions and Locker Rules are now available.

Extra help is available for students every day from 12:00 to 12:25 pm in Rm 55 (Rm 75 on Day 3), Science help in Rm 88 on days 1 and 3, and Math help in Rm 26 on days 2 and 4. The library is also open all of lunch for students who need to use a computer or need a space to do work. Help is available from staff in the library if students need assistance with computers or finding books or reference materials. The library is open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm every day.

Scholarship deadlines are fast approaching - check out our scholarship page for new scholarships or make an appointment in Guidance.

Once again this year, math students in Grades 7 to 10 will have access to live, interactive, online math help through the expansion of a pilot project funded by the Ministry of Education. Homework Help is free, real-time math tutoring by certified Ontario teachers.

  • EQAO results for Literacy, Math and grades 3 and 6 are available on line at www.eqao.com along with tips for parents and students.

Dress Code at Centre Dufferin

Dress is a form of expressing individuality, however, staff and students at Centre Dufferin must dress in a manner which neither offends nor distracts others because of immodesty or offensive logos or language.

Therefore the following applies:

  • No clothing or hats illustrating alcohol, drugs, racial or religious slurs, inappropriate language or slogans.
  • Shorts and skirts must be appropriate length (eg. end of fingertips with arms extended)
  • Tops and bottoms must meet
  • No inappropriate top exposure
  • No underwear showing
  • Students may be offered items of school clothing to wear during the school day so that they are dressed in an appropriate manner.
