DESCRIPTION: The grade 12 interdisciplinary Biotechnology course is designed around three goals. These are to understand the theory and foundation of biotechnology, to learn and carry out biotechnological methods of research and to evaluate the societal impacts of these new technologies. The course has both theoretical and experimental components. There is a small lab fee.

1. Biotechnology: Theory and Foundation

2. Biotechnology: Processes and Methods of Research

3. Biotechnology: Implementation, Evaluation, Impacts, and Consequences

PREREQUISITES: Biology, Grade 11, University Preparation (SBI 3U1) and Chemistry, Grade 11, University Preparation (SCH 3U1)

CO-REQUISITES: Biology, Grade 12, University Preparation (SBI 4U1) and Chemistry, Grade 12, University Preparation (SCH 4U1) - completed or concurrent
