Get ready to learn! There is still time to register your child for Junior/Senior Kindergarten at Upper Grand elementary schools. We offer both English and French Immersion programs. Full information on how to register is available now. You can also call your local school for details. Ministry mandated professional activity day On Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, all elementary and secondary schools in the Upper Grand District School Board will be closed to students to allow teachers to participate in professional activities that are designed to improve skills and knowledge in the areas of special education and closing the gaps in student achievement. Note: The first day of school for students is Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010. Equity and Inclusive Education Policy The Ministry of Education requires that all school boards implement an Equity and Inclusive Education Policy for September 2010. The Upper Grand District School Board is committed to schools and workplaces that value everyone. We would like your feedback and ideas. Extended Day Programs will not be offered beginning in September 2010 Due to the lack of interest expressed by of parents of children who will be entering Junior and Senior Kindergarten and Grades 1 and 2 in September, the Extended Day Program component (before and/or after school child care) of Full Day Kindergarten will not be offered at the 13 identified elementary schools this fall. [ More ] School Opening 2010 For both elementary and secondary schools, the first day of the 2010-2011 school year will be Tuesday, September 7, 2010. [ More ] Information About Full Day Kindergarten and Before and After School ProgramsThe Upper Grand District School Board will offer day Full Day Kindergarten (the Early Learning Program) at 13 of its schools beginning September 2010. Five additional schools will be added in September 2011. Note: The 13 schools which will have Full Day Kindergarten in September 2010 will NOT offer a Before and/or After School care (Extended Day Program). There was insufficient interest in enrolment to make this program viable at any of the identified schools. This will be reassessed during the coming school year.

[ More ] Facility Partnerships with the UGDSB Upper Grand District School Board is committed to working with community partners in order to share facilities to the benefit of the Board, students and the community. Currently, the Board has identified the reconstruction of King George Public School in Guelph as a co-build opportunity for which partnership will be considered. School year calendars for 2010-2011 The proposed school calendars for the 2010/2011 school year for the UGDSB’s elementary and secondary schools have been approved by the board for submission to the Ministry of Education for final approval. The board proposes that the first day of classes will be September 7, 2010 and that March Break will be March 14-18, 2011.
